In 1989, a Regional Conference (entitled Bigotry 101: A Crash Course in Combating Prejudice on Campus) was co-sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and George Washington University (GWU). During this conference, it was determined that many campuses and institutions faced similar challenges when encountering issues of racism, prejudice, and inequity with regards to race.  This conference planted the seed that was to grow into the Washington Regional Task Force Against Campus Prejudice (WRTF).
